You say somebody else assumed responsibility and said that their insurance will compensate all your losses
That is good, but, what if anyone changes his or her mind in a while and says that you were guilty. Or what if the contestant insurance company doesn’t want to pay what you consider to be appropriate. 
Actually, how can you know what is appropriate? Do not forget, an insurance company can pay claims, but it is in business to have some profit.
It usually won’t give any extra dollar than it has to and if you have no lawyer the insurance company, traffic-controller or attorney may think that he or she may "go away" with paying a lesser amount of money than the claim may be worth.
In addition, very often, what people affirm at the time of an accident is not always what they affirm once having spoken with a friend, insurance agent or lawyer.
Moreover, an insurance adjuster or insurance lawyer works for the insurance company, and they are not eager to help you. How can you be sure that what they are saying you is right or exact? Bear in mind, in most cases, they work to try and save the company funds. You should hire an attorney on your side to inform you of your rights and responsibilities.
You say that you were not injured that bad or at all
How can you identify to what extent you were injured? A number of injuries are not observed for months. Others can make an earlier problem worse. Even if the doctor said you were ok, how can you be sure that a problem will not arise in a while?
You say you have accident insurance, why not let them handle everything for you
Your insurance company is there to protect any claims against you not to stand for you in any claims against other contestants. Besides, they are in business to profit as well. How will you know whether they are attempting to resolve a case to assist you or to save some money for them?
